Community Recreation and Wellness Center
Planning and Development Menu

Description
The City of Euclid seeks to develop a Community Recreation and Wellness Center focused on delivering to residents a space uniquely designed to reflect the holistic approach to wellness - physical, social, emotional, and financial. The Department of Recreation offers more than 35 programs, events, and activities annually, engaging residents in physical fitness and activities that introduce them to their neighbors and fellow Euclidians. Currently, the Department of Recreation shares facilities or utilizes what outdoor recreation space the City offers, which limits the Department’s ability to sustain programs throughout inclement weather or when a shared facility is unable to be used. By creating a dedicated space in the City for the Department of Recreation to operate these programs, events, and activities, the Department will be able to maintain and grow the offerings to Euclid residents and pair physical wellbeing with more programs that support the City’s holistic approach to wellness. The vision for the Center includes multi-purpose courts, workout room, and other spaces for wellness classes, life coaching, literacy programs, and more. The City currently plans to use up to $10 million of its American Rescue Plan Act funds to support the construction of the Community Recreation and Wellness Center.
Benefits
- Dedicated Space: Without a dedicated space currently, the Department of Recreation must reschedule or cancel programs, activities, and events when there is inclement weather or when the shared facility becomes unavailable on short notice. The creation of a dedicated space will support the current programs, activities, and events and allow the Department to confidently add additional programs. .
- Supporting Holistic Wellness: Director Mac Stephens and the Recreation Team provide programming and activities that support ongoing engagement in the community, activities that help neighbors get to know each other, and grow as current and future civic leaders. This holistic approach to wellness will be supported in a Center that offers physical fitness equipment alongside multi-purpose space for programs such as life coaching, literacy programs, and resume writing.
