Meet the City of Euclid Motor Maintenance Department

October 3, 2022

A look inside the department that keeps Euclid running!

Over the next several months we’d like you to meet those men and women who serve the City of Euclid in various capacities. \

There are over 400 employees within the city. 146 of these individuals have served this city for more than 15 years. That’s 3272 years of experience among them!

This month we’re starting with the behind-the-scenes crew of the Motor Maintenance Department.

Dan Knecht our Public Service Director shared the following information about this crew:

The Motor Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of almost 500 vehicles and pieces of equipment used in city operations. The 6 mechanics, 1 Fleet Manager Rich Perusek, and Administrative Assistant Judith Lovett work 5 days a week to maintain the fleet. Work performed by the mechanics includes preventative maintenance, engine and transmission rebuilding, and replacement, brake and suspension work, tire replacement, hydraulic work, electrical work, light bodywork, and fabrication. Work is performed on all sizes of vehicles from a passenger car up to a tandem axle fire apparatus. Equipment ranging from small lawn care equipment up to 2.5 cubic yard articulating loaders is also handled by the 6 mechanics. Coordination of work being performed and parts procurement is handled by the fleet manager. Multiple 24/7 city departments rely on motor maintenance for their fleet vehicles’ safe operation.

Fleet Manager Rich Perusek stated, “I couldn’t do what I do, without these guys”.

Thanks, Rich, Judy, Greg, Darren, Kyle, Nick, Dan and Andy for keeping those motors running and those wheels turning!
