Euclid chiropractor Dr Paul Infield recently returned from a trip to the Beijing Olympics where he held the honor of serving as team physician Team USA Luge. The board-certified as Chiropractic Sports Physician has been traveling internationally as the National Team Chiropractor for the USA Luge team since 2016, but this was his first stint as team doctor at the winter games.
Infield, whose family has owned and operated Infield Chiropractic at Shore Center Plaza on Lakeshore Blvd. for over 10 years, found his way to Beijing via recruitment through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, where he was tapped by a former committee member. “My skill set was an excellent fit,” said Infield, who specializes in sports injuries and is also a member of the ACBSP's concussion registry- making him an asset to any sport where concussions and head injuries might affect return-to-play. “Sliding sports are extremely rough on the body. When you hit a wall at 70 mph- chiropractors are normally brought in,” he said.
Dr Paul spent three weeks living in the closed-loop area near the Olympic Village and enjoyed travelling through Switzerland and Austria on his way to the Chinese capital. “My favorite part was talking to people from all these other nations,” said Infield. “In a situation like that, politics are removed and you’re able to just have great conversations with people from all over the world.”
No major injuries were sustained by the luge team during the games, but Dr Paul stayed diligent with their care as the men’s team placed 8th, the women’s team placed 12th, and the doubles team placed 11th under his care.
“I would do it again,” said Dr Paul, who hopes to be able to join the team in Italy in 2026.
Infield Chiropractic is open Monday – Friday (and Saturday by appointment) serving patients with no wait through their evidence-based practices. The Shore Center location can be reached by calling 216-938-7889. Most insurance is accepted.
