Shore Cultural Centre Is The Place Where Dreams Become Reality.
For Dorothy, that dream was fifty-four years in the making when, at age 72, she attained her GED. Why did it take so long? A Great Depression, a World War, and four children intervened. Dorothy reached her goal thanks to the GED program housed at Shore which was easily accessible from her home.
Built in 1913 as a high school, our lovely building has been helping dreams come true for 107 years by providing opportunities for people to participate in the arts, education, medical training, and recreation programs. We are home to important community services such as the Euclid Hunger Center and the WIC Program as well.
We have a big dream, too.
Our building has seen its share of Northeast Ohio winters, and the old wood windows are showing their age. Phase One of our window renovation project will replace the broken, paint-encrusted windows on the Northside of the building with period-appropriate, functional windows starting in Spring 2021.
But we have a long way to go to finish.
Your donation to our Every Pane Counts Window Renovation Fund can help us achieve our dream to give this fine old building a much-needed facelift by replacing the windows along Babbitt Road.
Our goal during Phase Two of this project is to raise $76,000. New windows will substantially reduce annual heating costs and address the moisture infiltration problems which are beginning to damage exterior brick and stone as well as interior plaster. In addition, the comfort and safety of Shore tenants and visitors will be significantly improved.
