July 22, 2022

Road resurfacing has begun on Euclid Ave. and E. 185th- See construction updates here.

NEW UPDATE: 7/22/2022

The contractor for the E 185th St Streetscape Project plans to begin work on the east side of the street (the Euclid side) the week of August 1st. Traffic will continue to be one-way northbound only with E 200th Street being the detour for southbound traffic. Parking will be maintained along the curb.

UPDATE: 6/2/2022

Two major roadway improvement projects began on May 16th and 17th: The ODOT Euclid Avenue resurfacing project and the East 185th Street rehabilitation project.

Euclid avenue resurfacing will run from the Cleveland Corp. line to the Wickliffe Corp. line, and is scheduled for completion in early October 2022. (Please note: This information may change based on supply chain constraints, utility conflicts or labor shortages.)

Euclid Public Service Director Dan Knecht offers this information on the Euclid Avenue project:

“Traffic is able to travel in both directions during the project. Multiple lanes may be closed during work hours for crews to complete their work. Milling of the pavement in the center turning lane is completed from the Cleveland corporation line to the Beverly Hills intersection. Placement of the intermediate course of asphalt in the turning lane will be following. Work is ongoing to mark out base repairs and manholes that require adjustment or replacement. Crews are working on inspection of catch basins to identify which basins will need repair or replacement.”

The East 185th streetscape and beautification project is being designed in two parts. Part one, which began May 17th includes resurfacing 0.7 miles of East 185th St. from Pawnee Avenues to Lake Erie. This section of the project involves both the City of Cleveland and The City of Euclid. Part two of this project (start date TBA) includes resurfacing 0.9 miles of East 185th St. from Nottingham Road to Pawnee Ave. This stretch of roadway is incorporated in the City of Cleveland only.

Euclid Ward 4 Councilman Kristian Jarosz, a representative of the East 185th project, offers the following construction update:

“The barrels, pavement striping and detour signage is now in place. SB traffic is not allowed on E. 185th from Lake Erie to Windward Rd, and that traffic is being detoured to E. 200th Street. NB traffic is open the entire length of E. 185th Street, and the curb lane on the east side is once again available for on-street parking.

This configuration will remain until July or August.

The next order of business is to "mill" or remove the top layers of asphalt on the west side of E. 185th, from Windward all the way to the end of the road, north of Lakeshore Blvd. Side streets and driveways off E. 185th St will remain accessible to NB traffic, since cars can drive on the milled surface.”

Please be aware of changes in traffic patterns as both projects progress.
