Job Title: Manager, Public Works
Department: Public Works
Status: A. Classified. B. Exempt
Job Summary: The manager is primarily responsible for ensuring the completion of projects related to the efficient operation, repair and maintenance of all City of Euclid buildings, signals and public lands. The manager supervises employees, coordinating with other City departments and outside agencies as needed. Works with Superintendents, under the immediate direction of the Director of Public Service or designee.
Job Duties:
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules for buildings, signals, signs and public lands.
- Coordinate with utility companies and other agencies as required.
- Monitor progress and inspect work performed by departments and contractors.
- Proactively identify and report issues, develop and execute solutions.
- Identify and implement strategies for cost-saving and efficiency.
- Ensure management of staff within City policy, regulations and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
- Manage recordkeeping, scheduling, inspection, reporting and other documentation as required.
- Respond to and resolve staff and resident emails, calls and E-Gov requests.
- Review completed work orders; prepare and submit reports to proper authorities.
- Work with Superintendents and Director to ensure effective Public Works operations, plans and communication.
- Ability to respond to phone calls, texts and emails after hours, weekends, and holidays in emergency situations.
- Perform other related duties as required .

Work Environment: Heavy work (exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally); indoor/outdoor. Subject to hazards; moving mechanical parts, electric current, water, chemicals; atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases; occasional exposure to below 32 degrees F temperatures, noise and vibration. Physical activity: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Requirements: High School graduate or GED equivalent. Supervisory education and/or experience. PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. The successful candidate for this position will be energetic, organized, resourceful, collaborative, flexible, a self-starter, willing to embrace new ideas and projects, a creative and analytical problem solver, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Preference may be given to candidates with experience and/or certifications in one or more of the following areas:
a) plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting
b) traffic signalization maintenance and repair, arborist c) prior experience working with a variety of Unions and Tradesman
A combination of experience, education and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job would be considered. PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs essential. Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to express and exchange ideas and instructions clearly. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Pay range: $31.31 – $40.28/hour
