EFD Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief Earn Distinguished "CFO" Designation

February 9, 2022

Both earned the "Chief Fire Officer" designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

Euclid Fire Department Fire Chief Chris Haddock and Assistant Fire Chief Will Anderson both recently received the "Chief Fire Officer" (CFO) designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

According to the CPSE website, "Designated officers are often described as being progressive and well-rounded. Part of the reason for this is the holistic scope of the CPC model. It looks at the “whole officer," focusing on seven components that cover the span of an officer’s experience."

The process to become designated with this title is rigorous, and includes developing a portfolio, submitting an application, participating in a peer review and interview process, and being voted into designation by the Center for Public Safety Excellence Commission.

The firefighter is judged by the commission on their education, experience, professional development, professional contributions and recognitions, professional memberships and affiliations, technical competence on up to 20 different competency assessments, and community involvement.

"I can attest that it’s difficult to receive that credentialing," said Assistant Fire Chief Will Anderson. "We may be the only Chief/Assistant Chief duo in the State of Ohio to have that."

Only 1,613 firefighters in the nation and only 40 other firefighters in the state of Ohio hold the CFO designation.

Congrats to both Haddock and Anderson on a job well done! We're proud to have you on our team.
