Job Title:               Aquatics Supervisor

Department:         Recreation

Status:                   A. Classified.  B. Nonexempt

 

Job Summary:     Oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and administration of the City of Euclid’s aquatic facilities, which consists of Memorial Pool and Indian Hills Spray Park. Oversees the hiring, training, testing, and certification of facility staff. Develops and implements various aquatic programs. Ensures that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained. Works under the immediate supervision of the Director of Recreation.

 

Job Duties:

Health and Safety

  • Adhere to aquatic safety standards and guidelines. Ensure that all appropriate water and environmental, health and safety standards are        maintained.
  • Ensure facilities and programs are compliant with all local, state and national requirements and current on all necessary certifications              required for operation.
  • In partnership with city maintenance staff, oversee the maintenance and repair of aquatics facilities and equipment. To include chemistry,        climate control, cleanliness, safety, and related maintenance.

 

Management and Supervision

  • Oversee and coordinate the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, performance and evaluation of aquatics staff, including facility        managers, lifeguards, instructors, cashiers, and slide attendants; supervise day-to-day activities of staff.
  • Plan and organize staff assignments and workloads.
  • Assess lifeguards and instructors and certify Recreation employees in CPR and First Aid.
  • Make recommendations to Director for aquatics staff hires or dismissals.
  • Maintain records of all relevant staff certifications and other requisite safety records.
  • Participate in and teach aquatic and safety certification training sessions, as necessary.

 

Programming and Marketing

  • Develop and organize aquatics programs for both youth and adults, including learn to swim, lifeguard certification classes, swim team,            aquacise, and others.
  • Recommend changes to existing aquatic programs as needed.
  • Assist in research, facilitation, and building quality aquatic programs that provide customer satisfaction.
  • Write promotional material, ad copy, and news releases, including the aquatics pages in the annual Recreation Guide, and mange aquatic      social media.
  • Plan and implement special events and public relations activities.

 

Operations and Administration

  • Create and implement facility procedures, operations, and emergency action plans, including maintaining written copies.
  • Prepare, submit, and mange budget for assigned programs; manage and submit bi-weekly payroll for aquatics staff.
  • Purchase program equipment and supplies; maintain inventory.
  • Provide accountability for program fees collected.
  • Maintain inventory and accountability of department’s ID system.
  • Prepare and submit end-of-season facility attendance reports and other reports, as requested.

 

Additional Items

  • Includes some evening and weekend work
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:   

  • High school graduate or equivalent experience.
  • One year of experience organizing and coordinating programs and budgets and supervising staff.
  • Ability to express ideas and instructions clearly.
  • Computer literacy
  • Certified Pool Operator preferred.
  • American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Certification
  • First Aid, CPR
  • Water Safety Instructor OR other certification program and willing to take a bridge course to become ARC certified.
  • ARC Lifeguard Instructor and WSI/LGI instructor trainer preferred.


Work Environment: Light work: exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally. Indoor/Outdoor. Physical activity: stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers..
