Job Title: Summer Camp Counselor 

Department: Recreation Department

Status: A. Classified B. Nonexempt - FLSA


Seasonal part-time from June 3rd to August 2nd

Mon-Friday 8am-12pm

Mon-Friday 12pm-4pm

 

As a Summer Camp Counselor, you’ll play an important role in providing a fun, engaging and safe environment for our campers. You will lead children between 4 and 12 years of age during weekly themed camps throughout the summer.

Counselors will also greatly contribute to the City of Euclid and Euclid Recreation Department’s ongoing efforts to grow happy, healthy, and responsible children.


A typical day for Summer Camp Counselor could include:

  • Helping parents and children through the drop-off/sign-in process
  • Lead children through fun and exciting camp activities
  • Encouraging campers to participate in games and activities
  • Teach campers good behaviors by communicating and leading by example


Duties & Responsibilities

•       Continually keep campers active and engaged in fun and challenging activities while maintaining a safe environment

  • Follow and execute activities according to pre-designed daily lesson plans

•       Lead a group of campers ages 4–12 with a fun, positive and outgoing attitude

•       Act as a role model to all children attending camp

•       Interact with children, parents/guardians and co-workers in a professional manner at all times

•       Understand and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for camps

•       Immediately report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse relating to youth


Qualifications

•       High School Diploma or GED; or must be actively working towards a High School diploma

•       One year working in a camp environment or coaching/teaching children preferred


Other Requirements

At Euclid Recreation, the safety of our youth is a top priority. Applicants must complete all state or federal requirements prior to their first day of directly working with children. Requirements may include but are not limited to fingerprints taken by a local police department for a background check.

THE 2024 NEIGHBORHOOD WALK & STROLL Join us for this special "on the move" edition of the annual 200th Street Stroll! Due to some long-awaited improvements happening on East 200th Street this summer, this year's stroll will be strolling over to East 185th! Enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly fun while supporting the businesses that call 200th AND 185th Streets home. There will be music, activities, vendors, food, rocket-car rides, comedy bus tours and more! Save the date and join us on East 185th for a celebration of our local businesses and community partners. NEW THIS YEAR: VENDOR OPPORTUNITIES! This year's stroll is allowing vendors to set up tables and sell goods along East 185th. Each vendor will get an assigned space along the festival route, and will have the opportunity to set up their own tent and table to sell merchandise. This opportunity is FREE for Community Organizations/ Non-profits passing out resources / information only (absolutely no sales!) and businesses with a physical location on East 200th or East 185th Streets.
