Job Title: Nuisance Inspector

Department: Building and Housing

Status: Classified Non-exempt


Job Summary: Responsible for the inspection and the enforcement of the nuisance ordinances relating to dwelling units in the City. Works under the immediate direction of the Building, Housing, and Nuisance Manager


Job Duties:

• Inspect grass heights in the assigned area(s).

• Inspect and maintain complaints, verification of nuisances, and eradication/compliance inspection records.

• Testify in court as a prosecution witness as needed.

• Operate riding mover, push mower, chainsaw, and weed trimmer.

• Perform other related duties as required.


(The description above represents the most significant duties of this position but does not exclude other occasional work assignments.)


Work Environment: Lightwork (exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally) indoor/outdoor year-round. Subject to hazards: moving mechanical parts, electric current, water, chemicals; atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, gases. Physical activity: climbing, balancing, lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and feeling. Consistent use of legs, hands, arms, and fingers.


Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Ability to express or exchange ideas and instructions accurately and clearly.

Pay Rate: $14.35/hour first 90 days

                 $15.35/hour after first 90 days

THE 2024 NEIGHBORHOOD WALK & STROLL Join us for this special "on the move" edition of the annual 200th Street Stroll! Due to some long-awaited improvements happening on East 200th Street this summer, this year's stroll will be strolling over to East 185th! Enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly fun while supporting the businesses that call 200th AND 185th Streets home. There will be music, activities, vendors, food, rocket-car rides, comedy bus tours and more! Save the date and join us on East 185th for a celebration of our local businesses and community partners. NEW THIS YEAR: VENDOR OPPORTUNITIES! This year's stroll is allowing vendors to set up tables and sell goods along East 185th. Each vendor will get an assigned space along the festival route, and will have the opportunity to set up their own tent and table to sell merchandise. This opportunity is FREE for Community Organizations/ Non-profits passing out resources / information only (absolutely no sales!) and businesses with a physical location on East 200th or East 185th Streets.
